#1 We Need A Headpiece

If you have attempted to avoid this trend for the past few seasons, then give up. This tiara style headpiece is here to stay, for a while at least.

Versace kicked off couture week with beautiful thorny metallic versions, and Valentino ended the week with the same trend, this time, in a yellow brushed gold.

#2 Ruffle Some Feathers

Take your pick, ruffles or feathers, or perhaps both… These two trends were rife on the runways last week. From Fendi's

feather and fur coats to Ralph & Russo's capes of feathers. While Chanel and Giambattista Valli opted for ruffles, for both day and night.

#3 Pastels for Winter

There were pastels everywhere on the couture runways, but most evidently at Versace with her dusty pinks and lilacs and Giambattista Valli with his delicious sorbet colored evening dresses.

#4 Top to Bottom White

On and off the runway, we couldn't escape the 'white on white' trend. Naomi Campbell first row at Versace, to Kendall Jenner leaving the Chanel show in white on white.

#5 Soften It Up

If Donatella Versace can do it, so can you…

Couture week was treated to softer more feminine collections from both Donatella Versace and Elie Saab two designers that have always taken pride in their outwardly strong females. This time round, equally strong but more understated.

#6 Beach Tousled Hair

Summery looking hair dominated the runways last week. But no one was complaining. Beautiful soft curls at Versace, to deconstructed braids at Valentino confirmed that its totally ok to rock these beach tousled locks this winter.

#7 The Long Sleeve Evening Dress

Just incase we weren't already convinced, Nicky Hilton sealed the deal with her long sleeved wedding dress. Valentino gave birth to the trend a few seasons back, and it has now been fully adopted by many others.

#8 The Evevning Bootie

The evening bootie was a hit during couture season, a welcome change from the traditional pump. Seen at Elie Saab in a jeweled version to match the dress. At Chanel, Karl opted for the black bootie with a center dip. This ingenious opening at the top of the bootie, gives the illusion of longer legs, and who doesn't love that !
