Burberry Prorsum's show at the Royal Albert Hall at Kensigton Gardens was a fittingly grand affair for the historic British label. What we witnessed today was an amalgamation of past and future. A refined restraint was evident in the grandiose event, which spoke of heritage and understated elegance, the collection however gravitated between two camps, the current customer and the future customer. This is all you need to know about the Burberry show.

#1 The Venue

The Royal Albert Hall is famous for its windows and the beautifully lit venue provided an elegant backdrop. A monochrome runway, extending from one end of the hall to the other, was intercepted in the center with a circle, which encapsulated the live 32 piece orchestra.

#2 Alison Moyet

David Bailey is a teenager of the eighties, so were many of the audience. To get the chance to watch Alison Moyet sing live can only be understood by a child of that generation. The question remains, did she give to the show or take away from it? Christopher's warm embrace to her at the end of the show, was of genuine appreciation, in his eyes, she was an addition.

#3 The Theme

It was all about refined street wear for David Bailey, a recurring theme on the Alexander Wang and Givenchy NYFW runways. The basic trench coat, predominantly in black with gold hard wear came down the runway, worn over silk full length daytime dresses, and cotton lace minis. There was very little color this season, in contrast to Burberry's Fall '15/16 boho festive spirit. There was also very little theme to speak of, but rather a practicality that dominated the Burberry spring catwalk. Trying to please his current customer, while still trying to attract the younger tribe proved a tricky feat for David, who was literally hopping between the two in the collection.

#4 The Details

Burberry's lace in its many forms created patchwork patterns onto daytime dresses. His printed and more embellished trenches gave his customer what they are accustomed to. Why fix it if it isn't broken?

A gold rope detail on jackets and placed at the neck of heeled sandals, added heritage and military splendor to the collection.

The silk slips, sheer lace and unlined netting, matched to chain detailed leather slippers and a canvas monogramed backpack, were a nudge in the direction of a more contemporary approach to practical fashion.

#5 The Front Row

The IT girls came out to support Burberry, Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne having graced a number of ads for Burberry, sat side by side, in the company of Suki Waterhouse and Sienna Miller.

#6 The Handbags

Two handbags dominated the runway, a canvas backpack with gold hardware and a small leat

her two tone handbag with oversized buckle, and heavy gold link chain.
